6kg Calor Gas bottles

Frances, the actual gas weight is 6kg, the cylinder weight is stamped on a metal disc on the top of the cylinder, about 7kg I think, so total weight is 13kg.

It is highly unlikely that the retailer would try to 'fiddle' you. However, you can weigh the cylinder then deduct the weight of the cylinder which is marked on an alloy collar (usually in lbs & ozs, divide by 2.2 for kgs) on the neck. Very useful for a part-used one, too!

Damien - beat me to it!

I once took a cylinder back to change because i wasn;t sure how much was in it, the lady picked it up to put in the used cylinder store and told me it was still full, she then passsed me an empty one, she was right!

No mechanical or elctronic tools needed...........just shake it you will know if its full or not !!
Glen,

Sorry to nit pick, you cannot tell if its full. only if it has any liquefied gas left in it by your method.
