70 rising to 80 on the motorway????

Anyway, we've got plenty of time to chew the speed limits over. The suggested 80mph motorway limit isn't likely to see the light of day before 2013.

I wonder when was the last time someone got prosecuted for doing 80mph on a 70mph strecth of motorway

. A long time ago I bet.
80mph is long overdue. My old Cortina 1200 Mk 1 could just about do 75 mph flat out. My previous Audi and Renault could all do over 120mph so 80mph for most must be ok for today's cars.
More importantly it's about time the driving test included some motorway driving.

I couldn't agree more, that the driving test must be updated to include motorway driving and preferably also introduce periodic driver assessments to maintain the standard.

But then, I did just see a herd of pig fly past my window
