A bit disappointed?

This morning against my better judgement I got dragged off toe M&S. To pass the time and for once to empty my wallet for myself I thought I will get myself a nice thick decent wool jersey. I really wanted a jersey with nice thick wool, but sadly all the jersey where paper thin wool at rather high prices for what you get. Anyway OH made up for it and made a decent dent in my wallet and I ended up having a Nero latte coffee. Unfortunately OH has been hinting for a leather sheepskin 3/4 length coat and seeing the prices I needed medical aid.

Try Hoggs of Fife they do nice wool sweaters, as do Charles Tyrwitt, House of Bruar, Woolovers and Finisterre. My favourite though is still the "woolly pully”

I am thinking way back in the late sixties "chunky" woolen jerseys were the in thing to wear. The wool strands were very thick almost like sisal strands.

Those sort are still being sold but tend now to be online or at country fairs/events. I’ve been gradually shifting from artificial fibre fleeces etc back to wool/cotton for clothes. Forgotten how comfortable they can be.

They are still made like that and worn by our hardworking farmers

I suppose I am very lucky, Mrs H hand Knits, my Jumpers in Arran wool, perfectly waterproof and warm, the oldest one, I got from my father in law, on his passing and is now over 40 years old. It takes her about 4 to 6 weeks depending on the pattern, with the wool costing £50 to £100.. At the moment she is making a cot blanket for the next addition to the family.

When we went to Iceland in 2019 I lashed out and bought nice Icelandic sweater and as BB says the Scandi ones are warm and hard wearing.

M&S had those artificial type "Norwegian" looking jerseys and as said they were paper thin and at high prices. One would expect better from M&S! Back in 2015 when in Scotland OH bought a jersey which is a decent thickness.

I find the converse as we have a MVF near us and as I wander around I find things I didn’t know I needed. Almost a day out if I include a visit to the garden center and food truck.

Great outlet and good online too, and very accommodating as at one time they would obtain Total fully synthetic oil by special order at a great price. They stock Hoggs of Fife, Barbour and other decent makes of clothing. Worth a visit by Buckman.

I would never dream of driving the Corolla that far on a M5 as doubt if I could stay sat in it for nearly 2 hours. Jeep is far more comfortable.

The one is Berkeley is a bit nearer than Cirencester. Coming off M5 to go through Cirencester can be a bit of a nightmare. Our favourite CL is near Frampton on Severn not far from Berkeley, but next visit is only planned for Easter. Sob!

I just order Sweater online from this place Aran Woollen Mills for my wife it looked really nice and it now arrived, and I have wrapped it up for a Xmas present .
