[Part 2 Of topic to Book or not to book]

So we found a site behind a pub for three nights over the weekend. Rang to book and they said just turn up, so with this info we have 3 other sites in the area as back up. So arrive on site and went to pub to check in,
Aye lad just find ye self a spot and pays us when ya leave...........................
Oh the elsan is between caravan 1 and caravan 2.......?????
So off we trot and pass 5 statics, 4 resident vans some motor homes and numerous tents.
Now bear in mind we only found out this was a CS when we arrived,( Signs outside pub) so on the Saturday there was;
the 5 statics
the 4 residents vans
4 Motorhomes
6 tourers (including ours)
And approx 12 to 15 tents.( 6 of these were a scouts group)
So is it a CS or Not.
And just to let you know, as we were not looking for a CS it really didn't bother us, just thought that if others had went there hoping to find a small site they would be disappointed.
Whats you thoughts?

I would be a bit disgrumpled, did it in any way have a Sign saying a member of the two main clubs, ???.
We use a site near to Dover that states it is a cl site, but has many more than 5 Pitches, but there is a small area for just 5 pitches, just wonder how thhey get away with it.

Probably a case of "Its my Pub, my beer and my land" if you don't like it xxxx xxx"!.
However, if its an official CS site,,,,,,,are they ever checked / monitored etc?
Most important, what was the ale like anyway?

Sign on both ends of the pub C & CC certificated site [or whatever they say] and actually as we were leaving they were up ladder replacing the old ones for new!!
Also sign on the tap by the Elsan, C &CC not for drinking cleaning of cassettes only.

The pub food and ale were perfect, Jail Ale and Timothy Taylors for me and Guiness for the OH :)

Also had to ask them where the grey waste went...THE WHAT they say ,Grey waste from sink, shower etc oh that goes in the elsan as well....................Mine went in the hedge I was not lifting 50 plus kilo of water 3 foot in the air.
Oh and the elsan needs two of you as there is no hose on the tap and it is 5 foot away from the drain, if you were on your own you get wet feet and legs.....I know!!!!!!

Very surprised as you are normally a Rain God , and the clouds follow you. But I suspect you had a dry weekend.

Lovely Friday, Thunderstorm during the night to start with then a spectacular lightening show for well over an hour with no rain, thunder claps or lightening cracks it was really eerrie , just like a silent laser show!!
Cloudy Sat. Cloudy Sun, and sunshine on the way home Monday!!!
BUT DRY IN THE PUB

yeah we got one of those in Dorset, in book as a CL. but when we arrived, we were shown to a long concrete bay behind the barn, with 5 EHU's. [so no awnings then !!] yeah ok it's a CL. but behind the fence was 20 statics in a row. on the other side of the statics was a space for 5 more tourers, and at the btm of the field a tent site.
he had both signs up for CC. and C&CC. plus a sign for statics for hire.

probably just in the limit for the two clubs as the pitch area was segregated but probably not in the spirit of a small 5 van site.
edit. oh and forgot to mention it had a 2 acre carp lake that took bivvies as well. shame really as that was why we went there. couldn't get on the lake you had to book that separately and it was full. :woohoo: :woohoo:

If you'd looked at the reviews on the C&CC website, you'd have seen that the third review (2013) echos pretty much your own opinion. It's also always worth taking a look on Google earth (and streetview if available). This will often give useful clues.

Hi Vic, I wasn't actually looking for a CS site just a pub with a site to pitch on, got to try new things sometimes and at £11.50 I cant really grumble. There web site doesnt mention they are a CS.
Actually just logged on to there campsite page and they say they have 25 EHU's !!!!
