New to caravaning, I have bought a super Sprite 390/2, at present just to sleep in due to lack of sleeping space, whien visiting my son in Scotland.
I have a few queries, regarding water supply. Having not explored How is the water heater kept topped up, does it need to be permanently connected to a mains supply Is the heater gas automatically ignited when a hot tap is opened. TIA

Hi again Malagbob, I don't know your van, but normally you would have a water drum outside of the caravan, normally known now as "Aquarolls" as the water supply which can be connected to the mains, and the heater tank would be supplied by this via a water pump, mostly put into this water tank To supply the hot water heater in the van. . The heating of the water tank will be automatic as long as you have mains electric to the van or on gas to the water heater, which may have a ventilation cover on the side of the van .
Ok others what bits have I missed. Bit late at night, people more specific on the van can probably help more.
Hutch.

On your van there should be a separate water pump which plugs into an inlet on the side of the van and goes into an Aquaroll, or other suitable water container (which is normally filled by the use of a food grade hosepipe, or a special connection to a mains water supply,,,,,,,but that is another topic!)

The water heater is filled from the same water supply as the rest of the van, the aquaroll, and is kept topped up by the water pump as you use water.

The heater on gas will heat the whole 9 ltr hot water tank and keep it at a pretty constant temperature automatically.
The same is true if the heater has electric heating as well.

A word of caution ! ALWAYS make sure the water system is FULL before switching on either the gas or electric to the water heater.

Your van will have a Carver Cascade water heater and there is no need to remove any outside cover, unlike if it was a Truma unit in which case it would not light on gas with the cover in place.
