Unfortunately they are indeed no more. The bank pulled its finance to them and that was that. Its a terrible shame, the best dealer and the nicest bunch of people I have ever dealt with. With Fleetwood going aswell, I have absolutely no warranty on my caravan, but my thoughts are really with the guys from APK who have lost a lot more than a caravan warranty.

Reading the March issue of PC mag it seems difficult to believe that dealers are having a hard time in the current economic climate. The PC slant on it seems to be with 100,000 new menbers joining the 2 main clubs and CC bookings up by 40%, our hobby has never been in finer condition. Presumably, with this increase in numbers, there is a proportionate number of caravans being used and therefore requiring service and/or repairs. Indeed, I had a three month wait to book a service at my local dealer, albeit at the busy time of the year for services. I wish we had three months worth of work booked in advance where I work. It would do wonders for job security.

I cannot comment regarding the 100000 new members to the Clubs, but the increase in site bookings by 40% is more to do with existing caravanners trying to ensure they get the dates they wish, rather than waiting as in previous years. There has certainly been a large increase in sales of motorhomes in th e last few years and it is possible that many of them have decided that it is beneficial to join the Clubs in the current climate.

If there has indeed been such a large increase in new caravanners/motorhomers then i fear many of us will be parked in laybys for the summer. However, I don't think so.

I, for one, won't miss the demise of APK.

Incompetent and unprofessional, nearly causing a fatal accident - that's how they were when my Bailey went to them for warranty work.

With luck, the recession will weed out some of the worst dealers which isn't a bad thing.

Hi

I was advised to go to see APK by Thetford when I had trouble with my fridge that Swift couldn't sort out, a round trip of over 50 miles. Their attitude was extremely customer UNfriendly and didn't want to know about the problem. If this was how they usually treated customers it is no wonder they have gone bust.
