A685 from Brough

Intend to visit the Southern Lakes and will be travelling from Scotch corner A66 to M6, Have Used the A66 through to Penrith , but to save mileage wondered if the A685 from Brough (A66) to junc 38 on the M6 is okay for caravans,Thanks in advance

HGV's are banned from that route. It's very tight at Kirkby Stephen, with parked cars down one side of the road for about 400 metres- meet John coming the other way, and you will have fun. There's also a very long and steep hill to the north of there- you need a powerful unit to get up it!
