AA Discounts / Phone Roaming Cheaper

I have email from the AA saying that Stenna, PO and Sea France are offering 5% and 7.5 discount to AA members.

It's good to see that the roaming charges for mobile phones have at last been capped as of 1st July 09. Calls text and data charges all come under stricter controls and should become even cheaper in 2010 and 2011 under the EU agreement.

I'll now have a quiet day and take a powder, the EU mobile phone lady has done something positive for us all. I feel quite light headed and shocked.

It's a step in the right direction. Pity they don't all follow Vodafone's example and drop all European roaming charges for the Summer. We have saved a fortune on our current trip and been able to keep in regular contact.

Bad news is that the 3 network have discontinued their "like home" scheme (from 30 June)which had no roaming charges for certain countries - we have used it in Italy and Austria - but their standard charges are less than the new EU capping anyway.
