I emailed Swift a week ago with this question but they have not bothered to reply. Do any of you stand on the roof of your caravan to clean it. I have a 2007 Vogue.

Regards .

JTS from having had an Abbey GTS Vogue and seeing how much the roof "gives" with just a hand on it I would NOT stand on it under any circumstances.

Damian.

Thank you. I rather thought that would be the case. My previous van was a GTS Vogue and I did not try it on that. BTW we are often reminded on this forum regarding your relationship with your advertisers. In the past two weeks in addition to SWIFT I have also emailed one other manufacturer, one dealer and one equipment supplier, all have failed to respond. I have a long memory and they will not receive the benefit of my custom in future.

Best of luck.

JTS.

JTS just a rather large point to make, the manufacturers and Dealer and equipment suppliers are definately NOTHING to do with me, or any of the Moderators, we do NOT work for Haymarket and have no vested interest in advertising in any way whatsoever.

Having said that, with the turmoil in the industry as it is, I too have had quite long delays in replies from Manufacturers and suppliers, but I guess it is down to less staff now.

Back to the Vogue, I was rather alarmed at the lack of support in the roof, unlike the Hobby which I now have which has built in roof rack and can take 4 adults standing on the roof (if that was ever necessary)

most on this forum will remember my 2005 ace celebration 590 twin axle (bassed on the equirry)i only kept the van for less than a year due to the large amount of faults which ended in the roof sinking by quite a few inches purely becouse of rain water collecting on the roof, it sank that much we could not open the bathroom door as it was stuck against the roof so i definately would not stand on your vans roof, we have gone back to coachman caravans now and the roof is more than capable of holding my weight when i clean it but even with this van im very carefull to make sure the weight is spread over a good area.

Bailey have an advert of five of them standing on a roof of one of their caravans.

Would I stand on mine?

Never.

I just use those long handled "hose" brushes. I can reach most of the Heki and remis sun roofs , just, standing on the top of my 9 rung step ladder.

Make sure someone holds the ladder for you!

Cheers

Alan

We are currently responding to enquiries within 5 to 7 working days.

We would not recommend standing on the roof. The construction of our roof is not designed to take that sort of additional weight.

Kath

the reason for people being able to stand on the new bailey roofs is because they are the first uk manufacturer to have a fully bonded roof, which makes it a lot stronger and therefore can take the weight.

i would not advise to stand on any other roof though without it being fully bonded.

I have a 2004 Abbey GTS Vogue 416 and the roof on that dips behind the Heki so that when it rains there is a large puddle about an inch deep.

My previous Abbey had to go back to the Swift factory to have the roof replaced as one of the cross members had broken ,and that was without standing on it.
