I wish to remove the fridge to get access to waste pipework behind it.Does anyone know if it can be done without disconnecting the gas pipe connection to the fridge please.
I managed to move it sufficent to gain access to the cavity behind the fridge. So that problem is solved. There is another problem now which is the John Guest water connections are leaking behind the vanity. I am surprised such connections are used in such cases. Recommended alternatives appreciated.NO it cannot be removed without disconnecting the gas supply
John Guest connections work fine - as long as the pipe length isn't too short and they're pushed fully home.I managed to move it sufficent to gain access to the cavity behind the fridge. So that problem is solved. There is another problem now which is the John Guest water connections are leaking behind the vanity. I have had to discover by trial and error the hard way. Sometimes the O ring itself is damaged so if you can find a replacement rubber seal it would be much cheaper than replacing the entire fitting. Of course the tubing can be damaged also. I proved that today :new tubing into old fitting =fail depending on the o ring.I do not know of any alternative connectors for the plastic pipes.
JG push fit are very reliable as long as the pipe is cut squarely and are pushed home fully into the fitting.
They have been used in caravans for many years
Depending on the damage popping the O ring in boiling water for a few minutes can help them remember their shape or get some elasticity back. Also works for turntable beltsI have had to discover by trial and error the hard way. It would be nice to try except the amount of work involved to remove fitting from a difficult position exceeds the reward. My project is still not complete. One more old fitting failed after it was disconnected. There must be a way for a DIY to test these fittings in place without the consequences of a massive water leak as a fail. I suspect John uest fittings have a natural life. My Abbey is now 20 years old so maybe to be expected.Depending on the damage popping the O ring in boiling water for a few minutes can help them remember their shape or get some elasticity back. Also works for turntable belts
