Hi,

I bought a new 2009 Abbey Vogue 2 650 and as I owned an older van prior (2007) have got twin electrics. The new one however has the 13 pin plug, so I bought an adapter, all has been working fine up until 3 weeks ago. When checking the lights I noticed that none of the 3 brake lights come on unless the side lights are on. I have been told that a wire needs to be disconnected on the grey socket due to the internal wiring of new caravans.

Has anyone else experienced this, or able to shed some light?

Hi Jase R, I bought a new 2009 Spectrum 418 in May, had not sufferred any brake light problems until I was getting ready to depart my camp site in Slovenia 2 weeks ago, guess what, brake lights would not work. I also use the 13 pin to 12S / 12N plug adaptor. I checked everything I could access, no problem could be found, the only connection I could not check was the "sealed" plug on the caravan end. I gave Red Pennant a call for assitance but whilst waiting for the eventual vague response I gave the sealed plug a couple of taps with a screw driver and Lo and behold the brake lights started working again and fortunately remained ok for the duration of the return journey home (3 days and 940 miles) The van will be going back to the dealer soon to sort check this out, along with the erratic water system pressure, fridge 12 v system, light fittings dropping off, loose wheel arches, the list goes on.

I am going to change to a 13 pin socket on the car as I see this adaptor as being a potential frequent problem. At least if there is failure it will be fewer connections to check

Best Regards
