Hi Dave
I don't have a 495 but do have a Vogue 460, also a 2007 model. I guess there is not a lot of difference between them.
I have had my caravan from new and I am generally very happy with it. BUT in 30 years of caravanning I have never experienced so many problems with a single caravan.
Just about all of these problems were concerning parts or equipment that was bought in by Abbey and are used in many other makes and models of caravans. We have had a failure of the gas side of the Truma water heater, the bulkhead gas regulator failed, the smoke alarm needed to be replaced, the door locking mechansim had to be replaced and a wheel bearing collapsed. The only thing that could be termed 'bad workmanship' by Abbey, (apart from them not appearing to have a rigorous quality control of incoming parts and equipment), was that when driving home from the dealer on the day we collected the new caravan the gas space heater fell off !
The bottom line is that all these things could have happened to any caravan make or model because the failed items are 'common' so if you like the layout of the 495 and the upholstery etc is OK for you and the weight of the 'van is suitable then go for it. A different caravan make / model may still have faults similar to the ones I have experienced.

Hi john

Thanks for you reply

We have now bought the abbey vogue 495. My wife loves the caravan and that was the decider.
I have read loads of reviews and comments, as always, before we made the purchase. I found some owners we trouble free and some had issues, like yourself, but most were common parts used on many makes of caravan.

Thank you again for your reply.

Dave.
