Our lovely caravan was stolen between 9pm Thursday 3rd and 7.30am Friday 4th June 2010. Thieves made light work of Sold Secure hitch lock and shattered bolt on Sold Secure wheel lock. They cut the electricity cable at the battery box and cut through two padlocked gates and a barbed wire fence. It seems there are a shortage of these vans since Abbey ceased trading and the fixed bunk models are popular at the moment. Police think it was stolen to order and the cutting gear used was heavy duty. If you have a fixed bunk, end washroom van, please review your security as it seems there are professional teams mobilised. Ours was the second van stolen in this area, thieves not put off by proximity to houses and amazingly quiet.

Really sorry to hear of you loss,these people really do need ther hands chopping off.

One question. Have Abbey ceased trading ? If so has all the Swift group gone belly up?

You dont say which area the vans have been stolen from, to be honest any caravan they can steal is poplular.

Was it outside your home and alarmed?

By your experience whatever security is on the van they will overcome it?

Swift group stopped making Abbey and Ace badged vans about the end of 08. They are certainly still in business and spares are available for Abbey and Ace vans.
