There is a CC site at Banchory 18 miles west of Aberdeen. No decent site close to the city. Be aware property prices here are ridiculous just now. Don't know where you would be moving from but the "offers over" price bears no resemblance to what you need to pay to secure a property.

hello malcolm, we would be after a plot of land, it can be anywhere really, and we are not in much of a rush, (couple of years at most)thats why we are looking now at the areas rather than land or houses...the beauty of having a caravan is you can tour the areas, absolutely perfect,we may even end up at the other side....thankyou for the advice on the site ill have a look..because i have a little bit of scottish blood in me, ill obviously be after a bargain, thankyou again regards, ED

Ed,

There is another site ......Hillhead caravan park,Kintore.AB51 0YX.

Tel.no.01467 632809

This is 13 miles from Aberdeen.Haven't stopped on it but went to see it when we were in the area ( relatives nearby ) it is in a very quiet area and looked fine.It was neat & tidy and would certainly do for a few days.

There is also another good site at Huntly.....Huntly Castle Caravan park

www.huntlycastle.co.uk This is a 5 star site so you should be ok there.

The council run site in Stonehaven, about 13miles south of Aberdeen city centre would be a great base, and a lovely town.

Malcolm is right about the offers over house prices being crazy at the moment, my next door neighbour just sold in Portlethen south of Aberdeen, offers over 140k and they got 225k.

Also look at another council run site at Houghton, Alford.

Ed,

you might struggle to get a decent piece of land at a

reasonable price, especially one with planning permission.

We have been searching for land for 2 years without success

in the FIFE area, certainly a good distance from Aberdeen.

Depends what you are lookin for and how much you are willing

to pay.We are looking for a rural location but so is everyone

else and therefore prices become scary...Offers over is the

norm up hear in Scotland..best of luck..

Hi Ed

Malcolm is right, there is a good CC site in Banchory but it's "members only" although you can join there. It's a good base to explore Royal Deeside. If you venture into Aberdeen itself then the cheapest way is to use the "Park & Ride" at Kingswells which costs

thankyou all, ill have alook at all the sites, we are members of the cc, i do like the idea of looking round deeside, the land situation may have moved to another area also , so im not stressing too much, (lifes too short), we willfind something, like i said no rush just yet, its when we can get round to have a look at the areas, and being based in west yorkshire, its not a couple of hours drive away, thankyou again, take care all.....ED

Hi Ed,

Just seen your post, Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire can be quite tricky when looking at building plots etc. Main thing would be is would you work ??. It can make such a difference living North or South of the city,I suppose one good point is you can't live East of Aberdeen. A good starting point for plots etc is www.aspc.co.uk best of luck
