Hi, we've just got our first 'van and know nothing about its history! Can anyone tell me anything about ABI Target 390/4 circa 1976? Technical info, tips or things to watch out for - all welcome!

Thanks

the ABI Target range was introduced in 1976 and was the creation of the famous caravan designer Reg Dean. these tourers had wedged/angular shaped bodies, modern (at the time!!!!) interiors and had a fridge fitted as standard. they were released at the earls court caravan show and were certanly the talking point of the show! interiors were striped brown and the lockers were a dark coloured wood. the layout of the 390/4 was known as a 'box' layout. meaning that there are seats at both ends of the caravan.the exterior was very simple a cream/beige with a white stripe. in 1980, The Target 5.70 became ABI's first twin-axle caravan. the range was dropped in the early 1990's. things to look out for are: damp, floor delamination (where the floor feels spongy), a rusting chassis (if not a galvanised one, it should be painted annualy), dodgy DIY add-ons such as electrics and finally be careful of the glass windows as if they break, they could be hard/expensive to replace.
