I've been offered a ABI Jubilee Viceroy 1993 (5 bearth with rear bedroom ). I liked the van but then someone told me the ABIs of the early 90's were very proan to damp. Is this model especially bad compared to other makes? It looks quite a modern shape with a raised flat rear to the roof. Could the year be wrong when did they make this model?

All Abis were prone to damp in the rear corners, but it was usually fairly minor and easy to fix. They were worse for this than other makes, but they had no other problems and lasted well. I'm not sure what year the boat roof was ditched so I can't comment on this 'vans age. Personally I always rather liked the boat roofed Abis.

This may be a little late, but from past experience, I would agree with what you have heard John. The vans are nice enough, but we had a lot of trouble with damp and not just in the rear wall. Part of the problem was the use or a plastic rear spoiler at the back of the van, this warped over time and let in water. At the end of the day, if it has been well looked after and you check it thoroughly for water ingress, the van should be ok. Unfortunately, with the age of van, you payes your money and you takes you're chance.

The year seems about right, but these models were manufactured over quite a few years. Even if you have been miss-quoted by a year or two, buy on condition not age.

Not sure when they stopped making the boat style roof I believe it was about 92/93. The Jubilee Viceroy re-entered the fray in 2002 under the ACE badge.
