October 2025 PCv magazine’s Nigel Donnelly presents an excellent body repair article. Armed with the plastic welder and staples I feel, confident to give it a go. Well worth the read for those who still buy the magazine😉

I fix a lot of caravan front and rear panels with hot staples , Discovered them after finding the front bumper on my car had been repaired using them. Just wish the mechanic had cut the ends off( ouch) . With my kit the side cutters provided aren't the best so a dremel with a small disc grinder on it works wonders. I would suggest you practice on a scrap piece of plastic first as it's easy to overheat the plastic , I also give the 'gun' a slight twist as the staple cools . After smoothing the plastic I use two part shower and bath repair kit to fill in the 'depressions' before flatting and a final paint coat . Enjoy

Ian,on my wheel arch(ABS) it mysteriously gained a small bit of damage,I repaired the cracks by removing it,cleaning it,scuffing the inside with a green pan scrub. using gorilla tape carefully on the outside, checking the inside to ensure the tape was holding the crack closed and perfectly level I then applied this adhesive.Although used for wood I have used it before on other items,it expands and sets hard an has excellent grip.Gloves should be worn, whilst spreading it(isn't much use if the repair can be seen though)78519.jpg
