Coming home on Sunday on the M6 there were warnings that there were likely to be queues ahead. As we got closer it said only the outside lane was open due to an accident and then we hit it, total gridlock. We eventually started to crawl a few yards and stop for a few miles. This was due to the idiot lane changers who if they saw one moving they went for that and cars braking to let them in, having a knock on affect at the rear.
We were in the inside lane and to watch them ahead trying to change lanes was amazing, I'm sure it could have been set to music, it was like a waltz.
What I couldn't get my head around was the jerks who seeing the three lanes blocked proceeded at about 60 mph down the hard shoulder to reach the next exit. There were others in the middle and outside lanes trying to cut across onto the hard shoulder to do likewise and when they reached it they proceeded to pull out totally blind to their moronic cousins alreading speeding down there. The devil that was sat on my shoulder was willing one of the idiots to pull out and have the nose of their car put out of joint but the angels won, they were looking after them that day.
The accident was near Stafford and when we got close we saw a Motorway Incident person waving everyone into the outside lane.
Expecting to see blood and gore we were wrong. The incident was a car on its roof on the hard shoulder, no police or ambulances in sight. Why on earth 2 lanes had to be closed God only knows, it was creating mayhem just for the sake of it.
