Hi

I have a 2006 Statesman & noticed that the overhead lockers, particularly with the taller doors, will no longer stay open. Upon investiageting it is because the plastic fixings have broken.

Has anyone else noticed the same issue with their van? I would be interested if it is a unique problem with my van or a common issue.

Jeff, there has been previous correspondance on this subject in "Buyers Guide caravans" Page 3 30th October " happy swift group owners".

In particular posts from icemaker.

It appears tha plastic hinges are a problem. I have a 2006 Award and that has metal fittings similar to you get on MFI kitchens and they are no problem.

Hi all,we have an Abbey 318 with the plastic hinges which gave us some problems, mainly the two over the sink and cooker, being the largest they showed the first signs of weakness, whether the heat from the stove softened the plastic or they just worked loose I was for ever tightening them up. After talking it over with my dealer he decided to put a third hinge in the middle because of the extra weight on these two doors, and it works,no more dropping and an easy Diy solution, get the hinge from your dealer,if under warranty get them to do it,good luck Denis.

Jeff why has Swift gone back to proper hinges, instead of the plastic, because they have found there could be a problem, Bazz.
