Can anyone give me the advantages of an inboard water tank, as far as l can see you still need to fill via an aqua roll to fill them unless you are on a serviced pitch, what does it offer apart from in winter when it freezes.

I would like the info before l take steps to have one fitted but l am not sure it's worth it.

Mine was already fitted with the caravan and we use it when the tap is a fair way off and also to prevent us running out of water in the middle of a shower.

I doubt if I'd have bothered if the tank hadn't already been a fitted feature of our model. Easier to use 2 Aquarolls really.

Nigel,

Once filled the maimsahib can shower to her hearts content. All I have to do is turn the taps from inboard to aquaroll.

Cheers

All thanks for your replies, think we will not bother had the feeling it would be cheaper to by an extra aqua roll.

Only adavantage l can see is the showering but we tend to use the CC sites with full facilties.

NGH,

i would not be without one. In winter when the outside temp drops to well below freezing you are guaranteed a good supply of water.

Also if aquaroll runs out in bad weather just switch over to tank.

I don't use it for one night stopover but otherwise use it all the time.

Its each to his own choice but I have fitted my own tanks for the last 19 years and wouldn't be without one

I usually have a small amount in the tank en route for hand washing and if its raining on arrival then water from the tank is available

It has a level gauge and low level light so that when the tank level drops water is pumped in from the aquaroll that was again refilled at leisure during for instance this summer's gap in the showers

Also at minus 7 degC in the Spring no frozen water

We use our inboard tank strictly for showering (we would never use it for drinking or washing up.) We have an aquarium heater which is inside the tank which we plug in overnight and the water is then slightly tepid in the morning and therefore we use less hot water for the shower and there is enough for all of us straight away when we get up. After we have showered we empty the tank completely and refill it for the next day so that the water is fresh each day. When we change over from inboard to the aquaroll we run the cold water to make sure all of the tepid water has been run off. This works very well especially early or late in the season when the outside water is very cold.

Just to add all water entering the tank is filtered and the tank is cleaned with aqua tabs at intervals and inspected via the large screw cap
We don't drink from ours because we warm the water up each night, if we didn't do that we would be quite happy to drink from it.
