hello,i posted a question about adrias a while back.we,ve just been to view one today and im a bit confused as i couldnt see a zig unit,or battery indicator only a consumer unit.the battery was also missing, but the battery connectors were fitted under the osf bunk.do these vans not use a 12v battery,is the electrical system different to "normal vans"and lastly is the water system different.i should have asked the salesman all this.any help would be great.

thanks seth.

Due to lack of market demand on the other side of the Channel, very few Continental caravans come with a battery fitted as standard. If at all, a battery comes as part of a factory-fitted 'option pack'.

thanks Lutz,my main worry, probably my misunderstanding,is how will the 12v system work, say for instance if we over night on the sevices and require interia lighting.also with the wiring being present, surely its not safe to fit a battery inside due to the gas discharged of the battery.thanks.

Hi Seth

Continental caravans do not have the "zig units" that british vans have. THere are no battery level gauges, there is a simple charger and battery more than likely all kept under a bed ! This is how continental vans can be "lighter" and "cheaper". The water system works the same as our british vans operate. However it does depend on the age of the van. Cristall caravans have the same system as they are also continental. You should still check with the dealer first though as these vans can sometimes be very basic.

Hope this helps

Ian

As Ian says, the battery compartment in Continental caravans is very often internal without provision for external gas discharge. For this reason, they may only be fitted with sealed gel type batteries which are less susceptible to 'gassing'. The 12v system is normally run through a straightforward power pack.
