Off to Belgium and Luxembourg next week for the first time after years in France.

Question is will I need to book in advance at Camping Kockelscheuer. Especially as the big Funfair starts next Friday, the day I arrive there. I know the standard line is that it's always safest to book in advance but we never have before, so I would appreciate knowing if anyone else has been to this site while the fair is on.

Here's hoping

Have stayed at Kockelscheuer several times, though never while the fair was on, and booked in advance via the web site www.camp-kockelscheuer.lu. Confirmation comes via e-mail, no deposit required. The site is closed 12.00h to 14.00h and 22.30h to 07.00h. It can get fairly full late in the day so I would book if only to be sure of a pitch.

Remember the gates are closed at lunchtime - ISTR 1200-1400 but it has been 1300-1500 in the past. Also little or no English spoken at Reception. Site can be noisy from sports centre next door.

I know you have booked, but the municipal site at Born alongside the (border) river and about half way between Echternach and Wasserbilig (German border) takes some beating. New and spotless facilities, 10A electricity everywhere, much wildlife to see on and around the river, receptionist speaks excellent English, and there is a bar/restaurant/bistro. All for _12.05 per night. Takes about 30mins on the (free) motorway into Lux city or you can go by train, or 15Km to Trier in Germany.
