Hi

Help please (Lol & Mark in particular).

Went out on Friday night with some work colleagues and after a few too many shandys, I offered to bake and take into work, some fabulous mince pies. (My own recipie I boasted, passed down through the generations).

In the cold light of day, I need help now - you know what happened to my recipie books.

So please, any recipies for delicious mince pies (vegetarian version too, if poss), would be gratefully received.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Lisa.

Lisa you seem to be having quite a few "cold light of day" days lately, I think you should look at what's going into your shandies and I don't mean the lemonade ;o)

May I ask how the subject came up? considering you had been drinking, (shandy!!!!) did someone comment on the state of your mince pies?

Good observation there Roy, I wouldn't have minded hearing that conversation too! Anyway, back to the problem at hand, another quick web search later and I find.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/mincepies_73207.shtml
And this site explains how to make "the best mince meat" and although it is not for vegetarians it does include copious amounts of alcohol, something that I'm sure will appeal!

Now, what other sort of books did you loose in the flood?

Forewarned is forearmed.....

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

Lol - I'll look at the websites later thanks.

I've only had two 'cold light of days' in the past year which isn't bad is it?

The mince pie conversation came around as we got onto the topic of christmas of course. I offered to bake mince pies and someone else offered to bake sausage rolls and so on..... A perfectly normal night out I think.

Anyway, you're not telling me that you two don't partake of the amber nectar?

Regards.

Lisa.

Sorry if that reply sounded a bit curt - we have lunch booked for 12.30 and my daughter has only just got out the shower!

Looks like we're going to be a bit late!

Certainly not, I have been teetotal since 2003. Not a drop of alcohol has passed my lips since then and am extremely proud of that fact. It's quite an achievement that I haven't had a drink since three minutes past eight yesterday.....

Well, I'm still here, she's putting her makeup on now so I might as well reply.

Mark - sorry to hear about your oven, hope you get it sorted.

Thanks for the recipie, I'll do a trial run sometime in the week, I think brandy in mince pies will go down extremely well with us in the Fire Service (towards the end or off duty of course).

I didn't want to get too technical on this subject Roy, so a straw doesn't count, nor does alcohol in food, we all have the odd Vodka and cheese sandwich or Brandy omelette. I just happen to be on a diet so have to cut down on the food side, drink more liquid my dietician said......

Hi Mark

I'll let you know how I get on later this week - I'm going to give your recipie a go (if you hear of a house in South Notts burning to the ground, you'll know it's probably mine, the cooker doesn't like me!).

Glad you're getting your cooker fixed, I would have sent you and Sharon a food parcel but it probably wouldn't have arrived before Wednesday.

Regards.

Lisa.

Hi

Roy - don't worry about me getting a hangover, I'll just dilute the brandy with babycham.

Mark - what on earth are you doing with a large man in your caravan? Has he been there since the last time you went away?
