advice needed please.

hye.

i have a alco tow ball fitted to my car for my alco stabilizer on our caravan. i also quite frequently have to tow my small box trailor which has a normal tow ball. iv'e been told i can use the alco for both as long as i clean off any grease and grime afterwords. is that right or would it be safer to change the ball each time.

Hi Wayne

Yes it is OK to use your Alco with your trailer. As you say clean it afterwards - this is so important. You do not want any grease in your caravan Alko hitch as it would ruin the friction pads. Cleaning would be an easier option than changing towballs every time.

Hi Wayne

As previousley stated its OK as long as you clean all the grease off best way clean off with a cloth then spray it with WD 40 and it will remove all traces of grease and will not contaminate your Alco hitch.

Cheers John

Hi Wayne,i do the same as you towing various trailers,i have read the advice with interest, please do not use WD40 as it is oil based. I would go for Trev advice with the Brake cleaner,I have, for years with no problems,I use kitchen roll, dont be tempted to use the same cloth over again, grit is also an issue with alko's.

Safe towing Pal......Terry
