My caravan is a twin axel weighing 1685kg and has a stabiliser and ATC fitted. My current tow car is a Kia Sedona with a towing limit of 2000kg and a kerb weight of around 2100kg so is within the 85% match.

I looking to replace my towcar with the new Kia Sorento 4x4 automatic which has a towing limit of 2000kg, the same as the Sedona, but a lower kerb weight of 1896kg. An 85% match would be 1612kg, 73kg under my caravan weight. The match would be just under 89%.

My question is would this be a reasonable match or am I likely to encounter problems

I don't know where you got your figures from, but my 2010 Sorento KX2 has a mass in service of 2008Kg according to the V5 registration document.

So you should have no problem.

Hi

I think you have your kerbwieght incorrect as I have the same vehicle and it has a kw of 2076kg which gives 1764 kg at 85% and a max towing wieght of 2800kg

Also the max ball wieght is a hefty 112 kg

Hope this helps
