Advice on towing Swift Challenger 570 Lux

Hi there, we've just bought our first outfit and although we've been told that our car, Ford Mondeo 2.2 tdci will pull the outfit easily, it is nearly at the top end of its weight limit. Just wondered if there was anyone who has pulled the same or similar caravan or knows of someone and their towing experiences?

Hi Soldlisa
Welcome to the Practical Caravan forum and congratulations on buying your first caravan.
I haven't towed a similar outfit personally but there is some good information about safe loading of your caravan to achieve maximum stability here
It's important to check both towing vehicle and caravan tyre pressures and to load the caravan so that the noseweight is close to your noseweight limit without exceeding it.
Good luck, we hope that you will enjoy using the Practical Caravan forum and enjoy your caravan

Thank you very much for your reply and I will pass this onto my husband who will be doing the important job of loading the caravan!!! We will take all of your advice into consideration and are very much looking forward to taking the caravan out for the first time - very exciting!

Luckily our neighbours have just traded their caravan for a motorhome and have given us loads of useful things including the noseweight gauge so we'll put that to good use on our first outing!

It's important to measure the noseweight with the caravan hitch at the same height as it would be when hitched to the Mondeo.
The caravan should be on level ground.
Enjoy your first trip, take your time, make a list of vital equipment that you must not forget such as the corner steady winder, aquaroll, ehu lead and corkscrew and bottle opener

Ha ha ... you know us too well already, first on our list of priorities is the corkscrew and bottle opener! Good idea about the list ... neighbours mentioned that with a his list and a her list (top of mine, pack straighteners!).

Thanks for advice
