Aerial for radio/CD

My Caravan came equipped with a rather nice car Kenwood Radio/CD player built in, with some nice speakers as well. What it didn't have was an aerial so I can pick up almost no stations - and I like my Radio 2!

I really don't want to drill a hole in the roof to fit a car aerial, so are there any other options?

Hi Penny,

That seems a bit odd. How old is the van and does it have a tv aerial? I ask because some of the tv aerials incorporate an FM aerial where you need to extend a couple of antennae. Might be a case of just needing to do this and turn on the signal booster.

Bailey use the TV roof aerial which is OK for FM but Swift fit a boosted side aerial for the radio only

I prefer the type of car aerial meant for pillar mounting as I have found some interference via the 12V from the boosted ones as fitted by Swift

Extending the telescopic antenae will make no difference to radio reception and no difference to TV in this country. The latest aerial have done away with the antenae.

Penny,

The status aerial will only provide FM . Make sure the booster is switched on and the radio tuned to FM band.

If you wish to use a car type aerial, the Ring Automotive one (as used by Swift) fits to the side of the van and incorporates a booster. You will have to provide a 12volt feed to it though. This will provide Long/medium/Fm if the radio will give Long and medium wave. Some radios fitted in vans only support FM.
