Hi All
Has anyone fitted an aftermarket tracking device to there vans? I recently bought one of Ebay for £25, I have to say i was a bit sceptical as to weather it would work so i set it up in my lounge and then sent it a command from my mobile for a status update and right away it replied with the long and lat co-ordinates plus a link to Google maps where it tells you where the device is, it has its own battery backup and can be hard wired,
It has other features which include Geofence where you set up an area where you want the vehicle to stay and if it leaves that area you receive a text, or you can just leave it on the Move command so if the vehicle starts to move it alerts you.
Other featues are for cars or motorhomes where you can immobilise the vehicle by sending a command from your mobile or set off an alarm, it also has monitor feature where you can call the device and listen in on the thieves (maybe talking about where they are taking your pride and joy) all in all for the money i am pleased with it i got a sim card from DataSims who deal in sim cards for trackers and security devices which never expires but you do have to top up by £1.50 a month which to me is cheaper than paying a tracker subscription.

After several attemps i am unable to post the ebay link on here manually or using the Ebay button above. anyone wanting details of this tracker do an ebay search for TK103B and it will bring the product up.

I had a Phantom Tracker in my new caravan as standard - the draw on the main leisure battery to keep the internal tracker battery topped-up is quite high and was flattening it in a couple of weeks - the insurance discount isn't that great and most people wouldn't want their caravan back if it did get stolen.

It's easy to remove once you've overcome the hard part of finding where it's hidden - so I've got an almost-new unregistered Tracker in my spare bedroom !

I dont have to worry about the battery going flat as the van has 2x80w solar panels on the roof and the tracker will send me a text if the battery gets low :eek:hmy:
