I am investigating using air con in the living area of an Adria Matrix next year and would prefer portable.
Research so far has led me to Cool My Camper - www.coolmycamper.com I can find no decent review of this - if anyone has any experience of this unit or alternatives (less than £1,000) please post here and let me know.

Hi Robert.
We had one of these units in 2007 and used it for a few years but they were then distributed by a different company (who no longer do).
It was a very good investment and proved to be highly efficient in cooling the caravan (that we then had).
But...yes, there is always a but...When I took out of its winter packing to go into service for the following year, it was very innefficient. However the supplier checked it out and the unit needed to be re-gassed.
Once again it worked well during 2008 but the same thing happennd in 2009. The supplier had by then 'washed their hands' of the units and were not able to offer assistance.
I was unable to find an automotive air con specialist able and willing to carry out a re-gas, so it went on an internet auction site as spares or repair.
A friend had a similar product and shared the same problems with his.
My conclusion is that they are great but need to be re-gassed annually.
Must stress that I am not sure that the unit sold by Cool My Camper is the same as the unit I had but they do look very very similar.
Regards
Brum

I have used a cool my camper unit for 3 years and it has not been regassed yet.

Rather like a car all air condition systems need to be regassed at some point. As the unit uses Fluorinated gas and this can have an impact on the environment regassing should be carried out by someone who knows what they are doing.

Cool My Camper put staff through the City and Guilds F Gas and ODS Regulations (2079) course.
