Hi Guys . I have posted on this one previously but on a different thread so Ill try again.

Iam about to buy a twin axle van, I have read the levelling issues and found the suggestion of air jacks .

Does anybody on the Forum recommend them.

Wife seems to think it will turn the van over on its side.

I look forward to any reply

Regards Stewart

I used an air jack on my original caravan, they're excellent - couldn't turn a caravan over they don't get high enough, they also go quite slowly.

I've not used it with my present caravan because there are too many underbody obstructions and Al-Ko have made the sidelift jack available - which we have.

The air jack (actually exhaust driven from the car) has proved invaluable at lifting a couple of cars with collapsed suspension as it can be slid into a 2cm gap whereas a trolley needs 10cm minimum.

To use it to lift a twin axle you'd need a strong spreader plate, about 50cm diameter, to transfer the weight from the air jack to the chassis and have some means of locating it.

While I'm a fan of air jacks, I think a trolley jack would be better for your needs.

Have used air jacks for recovery of stranded 4*4 in the intertidal zone in salt marshes and sandy beaches. they are very good but need great care. you can push the floor in quite easily there is also a danger of bursting the bag on sharp objects. You also need a person to hold the inflating pipe onto the car exhaust not for the faint hearted!!

I would stick to a jack and take care. good luck.
