Aks1300 fouling A-Frame cover

Whilst away last weekend, Reversing my caravan onto the pitch I noticed that the Burgundy handle/lever of my alko hitch had pushed into the A-Frame cover of my Bailey Ranger 470/4(2005)causing it to crack. Although the damage is superficial, I was wondering if anybody else have encountered the same?

I have only had the caravan 2 months and is still under warranty.

Is this normal or do i have a problem that needs to be rectified?

This happened to my Ranger 470/4 (2005) but it was because I jammed the 12V cable between the A Frame cover and the handle of the Alko Hitch and there is not much clearance which made it crack. This is a weak part of the cover.

If you look at a 2006 Bailey Ranger you will find that they have changed it.

Hi Andrew my hitch was a AKS 2400. It could be the brakes need adjusted if its the lever on the side. Let me know if your lever is on the side or on top. Keith

Thanks for your reply, The alko handle is on the side (aks1300) it was this handle that pushed into the a-frame cover causing the damage. (after i got out of the car to unhitch, it looked as if the overun had compressed too far) does that make sense?

I think you may find that Al-Ko recommend raising the handle when reversing, which may be the answer to your problem.

Could this fouling of the a-frame cover could still happen under heavy braking for example?

any comments?
