AL-KO Hitch?

Yet another sprog question..............
Just been having a read up on the AL-KO hitch. Very clever bit of kit. I know there is a pad wear indicator incorporated in the head, but do the pads wear down quickly or at the same rate as car brake pads?. I realize that there are a lot of variables, but at £60.00 or so for a complete kit.........could get a bit expensive!.

We had the last caravan six years and towed it thousands of miles including in Europe and the pads never wore out. I think the main reason for changing them is probably contamination.
I have forgotten to push the lever down to actuate the system once and it is noticeable when towing so you would probably know if there was a problem.

And when they are contaminated, they squeel and groang like nothing you have heard before, I try to clean mine every time out using a good brake degreaser and a bit of rag, same on the " Un Painted and grease free" towball.
