AL-KO Stabilizer Coupling Head -scoring tow ball!

I have a small caravan with an AL-KO AKS 1300 stabilizer fitted. The caravan and stabilizer are only 3yrs old and have covered about 1500 miles in total. I have an AL-KO prescribed tow ball.Problem is that coupling head scores the tow ball. I have had three fitted (two on one car and new one on tow bar of current car) but problem still occurs. The tow ball is kept scrupulously clean and the friction pads work okay. Problem seems to emanate from coupling head chewing up tow ball-poor engineering finish. Anyone had a similar problem? Does anyone know if you can buy a replacement coupling head?

Have emailed AL-KO -awaitng reponse.

It sounds by your description that you have some thing embeded in the pads inside the coupling head, rather than the head itself, a bit like having a small stone jammed in your brake calliper on your car and gouging the disk, have you replaced the pads or at least taken them out for a close look ?

Make sure that you are lowering the hitch exactly on to the ball. If it's slightly off the outer part of the hitch casting can scrape down the ball causing damage.

Yes genuine AL-Ko towball. Thanks to everyone for advice especially about lowering coupling head. That could be the answer.
