If the battery is removable, don't remove it, you might forget to put it back.

Fold a small hand towel or tea towel over it. It will still actuate, however, just press the button in the middle and it will stop it. It's a prolem a lot of people encounter in caravans all over the world. LOL!

We have a 'sensor button' which, when pressed, does not allow the alarm to activate for a period of time and then resets itself. However, we still forget to use this facility! I agree with Lisa, whatever you do don't take the battery out.

Like many people, I have a similar problem at home.

I shall shortly be rewiring that area, and plan that when the extractor fan is switched on, the smoke alarm will cut out.

The extractor will be on a delay timer that will switch it on for a fixed period, then off again (as per an immersion "boost" switch).

I do the cooking in our 'van and find that if I take the smoke alarm off the wall and put it on the table, SWMBO "reminds" me to replace it before we sit to have our meal.

Never failed yet!
