I have the “original” multi use WD40, silicon spray, penetrating/release spray, white lithium grease, electric contact cleaner and dry ptfe. I have used WD40 ‘s products for some years as new ones arrive on the market, and don’t believe that I have used the wrong one for any task. But if I have I’m not aware of any issues arising 😂

I’m sure it is fine. But what I don’t like are different applications in cans that look the same bar the small print😉
The more so that the origin was a water displacement product specifically, and why the name is WD - 40, originally a very descriptive name.
Plus those of us of a certain generation do think of WD-40 as just that, the original water chasing stuff.
Agreed, now it has morphed into a brand, with a wider range of products, but trading under the WD-40 label.
