i have a alde compact 3000 heater system but the problem is no hot water on the electic side , and when i switch on heating on electric the water does warm up , every thing works fine on gas , i am wondering if the heating cartridge needs replacing.

Hi ,
I am just guessing that as its warm enough at the moment ( no heating on ) Your water won't warm up , go to the menue and put the water boost on , it should then work .

The hot water is always on even if the heating is on low, the boost setting will only increase the water temp for 30 mins but if it isn't working in the first place this will make no difference. What make of van do you have? On Baileys they have a switched spur for the electric side of the alde, so check that out first.
The system runs on 12v so the electric would be solely for the element.

the caravan is a buccaneer elan 2000 model as far as i can see the switches are for hot water and the other switch is heat and hot water , the system is working perfectly on gas but only warms water on electric when on heat and hot water but only when i turn the temperature up

I believe you have a controller with sliding switches?
The heating cartridge is the same for both hot water and heating, you have the option of just hot water then how and heating, the former doesnt circulate the pump so when you have the heating on as well this operates the pump which is why the water is getting hot as the glycol is circulating around doing the heating at the same time.It sounds like as they use the same heating element and this is working on the heating side i would say this is ok?
I wonder if it the controller that is at fault? I think a certified guy needs to have a look?

The 3000 boiler has two features not found on later models. Look around the sides of the boiler for a spindle sticking out with a flat on it, like those on cookers and old radios etc. This is a thermostat for the hot water only, which is set here rather than at the control panel. There will probably not be a knob on the spindle, but its a standard size so its easy to add one. Just turn it to a temp that suits, though this will be trial and error.

Near to this is a black knob that can be unscrewed, and under it you will find a re-set pin for use if the system has overheated.

If your van has a white Alde control panel, do remove the batteries when not in use - if they leak, the circuit board will be destroyed. The panel was made by Danfoss and branded Alde, and there is a later Danfoss replacement for this, which offers finer control of air temperature
