Hi All Was just enquiring if anyone had problems with the alde wet heating, i have a 2014 stirling eccles quartz and when the heating comes on during the night it seems to make a horrible noise which keeps you awake so renders the system quite useless on a night time. The pump has been changed and ideas ?

It's another downside of Alde - despite all the fanboys who rave about it.

The noise is obviously more noticeable if the Alde is in bedbox below your head when sleeping - silly place to put it but they all do. It may get better as you use, and tow the caravan as the air gets bled out - don't forget to check the fluid level should at or only marginally above minimum when cold.

It's noisier on gas as the roar from the burner can be heard through the caravan walls.

I'll guess that all those who think Alde is fantastic have fixed bed caravans so sleep at the opposite end of the caravan.

I must be a fanboy. We have a fixed bed and the boiler is at the front under a single bed. We have used it at night, though only on electric, and never noticed it running.

Do you have a header tank pump or an in line pump?

The in line pump if it is set to fast will be noisy, normal setting would be about 2 1/2

if the pump is a header tank pump sometimes an air bubble can get trapped under the impeller, lift the pump out slightly and then reseat it, don't do the lid up to tightly or this can push the pump to far down and then the impeller clanks against the side of the tank.

You might be right if you got your facts right. Our is well away from any bed.
Condemnation if needed is better directed against the van/Motorhome builders who do install the system in the location you claim. Yes, we are fans and specifically had our latest van built with the Alde system, but then we based our decision on direct knowledge of both Truma's two offering their Alde and their air blown.

To help the OP, we have found on ours and others that pipes badly installed and pushing on bits of furniture, so using that as a sounding board was the cause of some excess in noise. Easing these off the boards or otherwise getting the clearance helps. You might also find that trying with the header tank screws eased will also help, indicating the need for more attenuating fitting.

I'm very well aware that virtually all issues with Alde come from poor installation by the caravan manufacturer - my Lunar had extensive modifications, designed by me, approved by Alde themselves, done by the dealer at Lunar's expense just to make it usable in winter.

But then I always found that the issues with Truma blown-air were down to poor installation, as once corrected it was fine.

Talking from my own experience the Alde system is very quite, but I have never used it on gas.

I wouldn't be happy with the tank mounted pump though as it too close to my bed, even the boiler mounted pump can be heard at times but it makes no more noise than the old blown air system.

Both systems work but only if installed correctly, the advantage of the boiler mount pump is the variable speed, reduce the speed and the pumps live is extended and the noise reduced, when I say noise its only a distance whine which is only heard when the night is quite.

My system is 4 years old in march and has been faultless.
