Hello, Aldi are once again selling their satellite kit and we are hoping to buy it next week when it comes out. Can anyone tell me if this kit is ok and do you think it will work ok with a HD set top box. (Sky). We would be leaving it up perminently on site as we have a seasonal pitch .
Thanks hopefully for any replies.

Hi Erica, I have one They are very good but I wouldn`t use one permanantly they are too flimsy, also you would need a diffrent LNB for HD I am sure someone more technical can advise you the best way and cheapest way

Hi Erica,
Probably the best advice I could give would be to tell you to visit www.satelliteforcaravans.co.uk I'm sure you would find all the answers there, it's an excellent source of info.
If you are planning on using an existing Sky box then do you really need the whole kit as sold by Aldi.I think all you would need would be a dish with LNB. If you are going to be using a Sky+ box then I think you need a double LNB.
Ebay can be a good source of dishes and stands. If you want the dish up permanently then you will need to give some thought as how you are going to fix it into position.

Hi erica1

There is nothing wrong with the quality of the satellite kit supplied by aldi. The dish is made of stuff which wont rust and the LNB casing is plastic which is also unlikely to rust.

Doesn't have to be heavy to be robust.

As another poster has already said if you intend to use an existing Sky box then you should be able to pick up a dish, lnb and permanent mounting kit for a modest sum. An alternative source of information can be found at http://www.tracsat.co.uk/catalog/privacy.php - they supply all the bits and pieces to the installers so are well experienced in all aspects of dish mounting etc.

HD does not require a differant LNB.

Sorry but you do need a differnet LNB for HD unless you are a very clever person and have found a way to combine the signals into one.

For HD one requires a twin LNB and I doubt if Aldi kits come equipped with a twin LNB. If Erica lives in the West Midlands I have a satellite kit including a tripod, cabling and twin LNB for £30. Parksy can Erica in touch with me if there is an interest.

Sorry, but HD does not require a different lnb. You are confusing HD with Sky Plus, or Freesat +, when you need a twin, or quad lnb that enables you to record and view different channels simultaneously.

Yes the sky plus box is a twin tuner/recorder HD, so requires two coaxes.
You can have many more coaxes off, to different rooms, if you buy a different LNB.
I've seen 8 outputs advertised.
