aldi satellite system

Hi

I've read all the postings for the maplin set up, does the same apply to the aldi set that will be available this coming thursday. The reason I ask is that wer're going to be taking our fortnight holiday in Cornwall this year so will need to have freesat or equivalent due to the swith off.

Any comments would be gratefully received.

thanks julie

Julie the system coming up in Aldi is as good as the Maplin system and I think you will find it is made by Comag so all the instructions for setting up already on the Forum somewhere

If you need them ask for Parksey one of the moderators he will put you right

Regards Sir Roger

The satellite system that is being sold in Aldi looks the same as the Maplins one,but there doesnt seem to be any bits with it for clamping to a mast, although you could use it on a table in the awning or on top of the car.

Ive got my maplins dish clamped to the top of a pole which is fastened to the jockey wheel so that you can get a signal no matter which way the van is pointing.

Cheers Richard

Hi

Thanks to all of you for being so kind as to respond. I'm not able to get to Aldi for it opening, but my trusty father-in-law has become the knight in shining armour and will be camping out for it opening!

Thanks once again Julie

Presume the Maplins one is suitable for clamping onto a pole? Which Maplins one have you got? Bit concerned about the stability of the Aldi one if it isn't clamped to something.

Hi Julie,

I have the Lidl version which is very similar to Aldi.

There is a 'G' clamp supplied with the kit to clamp to a mast.

It's excellent value.

Hi

Just a short thank you to all of you, father in law got one today, will be trying it out in the garden on saturday before I go away on Monday, fingers crossed Julie

We bought one of these when they were on offer and struggled to set it up. The instructions were mainly for the use of the receiver and very little on setting up the dish. Then my husband linked the receiver up to our Sky dish in the house (we still have the dish but only get free programmes). We then got a myriad of channels, most of them shopping or gambling channels. However there was a loud humming noise on every channel which made it difficult to hear much so it's going back tomorrow. Has anyone else had this problem?

We took the stuff back and did get a refund but the Assistant Manager who processed the refund said "Are you sure it's not your leads?". We'd left the shop when we remembered that the scart lead was part of the set!
