Alko AKS 2004 friction pads

Can anyone give me some pointers on how to remove the side friction pads from an Alko AKS 2004 stabiliser hitch ? Although I'm careful with towball cleanliness, I suspect the pads could do with a good clean out of the hitch-head. I have removed and cleaned the front and back pads and they are now okay. It looks like the side ones are held in by some kind of cir-clips ? Do they just need tapping inwards from the outside after removing the little plastic caps ? Is re-assmebly simple ?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I find it easier to remove the front and back pads first, then remove the plastic covers, then use a phillips screwdriver and gently tap the side pads in towards the centre.

Replace in reverse order ie side pads first, then front and back

pads.
