Alko Hitch Pads

Hi In the process of changing the pads on my van. Was rather shocked to pay £30.00 from my local van spares shop. If you have changed them, what did you pay? Just interested. Seems a lot for a mass produced small item!

Bought mine on eBay (side pads) around £25 inc pp. Agree they aren’t cheap for a bit of machined friction material. But eh caravans are money pits!

Sounds about right, sometimes the kit comes with shim washers and new O rings, I now just clean up the old ones ready to refit, haven't found them to wear out , just get dirty , when I have forgotten to clean the hitch and pads.

Add to that, Awnings are "divorce in a bag"

Not for us, SWMBO, sorts out the inside of the van and gets the beer and wine ready and I do the Awning on my own,

Same here.
I do all the outside stuff water and waste and crack on with awning while my wife sorts the inside out , clothes kids etc .

Regarding the hitch pads , they're not cheap, I'm sure I got a spare pair when we picked our new van up last year in the pack .

Job done guy's, probably the easiest job I've done on the van! Well worth it. Putting up a new Kampa Air Awning tomorrow, ........... 😱hmy:

Awnings ! 🤢
I remember trying to put our first awning up 5 years ago , full Isabella awning if it hadn't been for the old(er) couple next door to give us a hand it would've been back in the back also but after that a doddle !
But since getting rid of both and just having 1 awning that we have now, not quite a full one but but still covers 3/4 of our van and is a doddle to put up by myself.

So true, got a full awning a dorema with the caravan, used it once, sold it for £50 6 years later , too heavy and 2 hours to put up . Great for two weeks away, not for us for a weekend,
Rather sit in my porch awning , cleaning my Al -lCo friction pads. 😛
