Alko hitch

In the latest copy of PC magazine on I think page 135 is a item about how to check if the pads are worn in your Alko hitch. However the info given is wrong as it says 'engage the hitch fully' it should say do not engage the hitch fully,if you do it their way you will think the pads ae won when they are not.

I read the article and quite honestly, rather than the pads being worn, it is much more likely that they were contaminated and needed cleaning. Why do we look for the most complicated/expensive solution first? Apparently (this is direct from ALKO), some diesel cars contaminate the pads quite quickly, but a clean is all that is required.
