ALKO HUBLOCK

I'm getting my new van in a couple of weeks time, and need to change my whhelclamp I think. At the moment I've got a Bulldog Titan that I have had for years, but the new van comes with Alloy wheels and the Alko hublock receiver.

To buy the lock will cost £235 so I was wondering if anyone has any experience of these yet.

Thanks.

Hi John,

my new Fleetwood Heritage came with the Alko locks fitted to both nearside wheels, they look very good and will take a lot longer than a wheelclamp to break off, fitting needs the van jacking up at one side on a twin axle to align them but it only takes 10 minuites to do, a single axle can just be rolled forward slightly to fit it.

Are you sure the caravan is not supplied with the lock? it seems a bit poor if not due to the amount of caravan thefts and when they fit half of it anyway.

Also your question said "Alko Hublock" the Hublock is a different product and is also very good and cheaper, try-http://www.jsbhublock.co.uk/3.html

When we bought the new argente last March, we enquired about these new locks. The receivers were already there. We felt that the costs involved were too high as well as being tricky to fit onto the twin axles.

We felt it better to spend money on a tracker, which is monitored and alerts the RAC if it moves.

We therefore have the alarm, hitch lock, wheel lock and the tracker. More than enough. I Hope!!

Hi Tony,

It appears that there are several different models depending on the type of Caravan, as I assume they have different styles of wheel.

I am getting an Abbey Expression with 14" wheels, what is your current van?

Thanks,

John.

Hi John,

My present Caravan, is a Lunar Lexon CS 2007 and has 14" Alloy wheels and so it appears that the lock may fit.So now maybe the best way of knowing is to contact Alko directly and ask if it will fit your specific caravan.

Regards,

Tony.

Hi Tony,

I have been on Alko's website, it appears that your lock may be the Salida model, unfortunately I appear to need the Mirage model.

What comes to mind now is that if you ever write off a wheel, and cannot in later years replace it with an exact copy, the hublock may then not fit.

May think again about this.

Thanks anyway,

John.

Hello John and Tony,

As SPJ explained, the AL-KO is not named HUBLOCK but AL-KO SECURE. The HUBLOCK is a different device altogether.

JSB HUBLOCK (www.jsbhublock.co.uk)

AL-KO SECURE (www.al-ko.co.uk/alko-secure.htm)

I suggest you look at both web sites for information.

I see there is a new posting from Dave and Bev which refers to the JSB HUBLOCK.

Regards,

Kenneth
