Alko Octogan shock absorbers

I assume I can fit them to a 2004 Abbey GTS (I'd need the red ones)?

How do they fit? Do they fit horizontally, or vertically, or at an angle? There doesn't seem to be much 'depth' to the chassis to allow for vertical mounting, and I've got a motormover mounted infront of the wheels - will they interfere with the shock mounting points?

They fit in front of the axle, on a bracket supplied with the dampers, and slope up towards the front.

Most motor movers allow room for the dampers but the Carver (aka Truma Classic) doesn't - in any case the mover can be refitted behind the axle.

If you trawl around the site you'll see loads of info on fitting shocks. They fit in front of the axle at an angle. The holes are already punched in the chassis and there are blanking plugs in the swinging arm. You can fit them without taking the wheels off if you are careful. Th e average time to fit seems to be about 10mins a side. You need a torque wrench with a 19mm socket, a 19mm ring spanner helps as well if you've got a motor mover in front of the wheel. You may need to adjust the mover motors outswards a bit to clear the shocks. Otherwise it's ever so easy

Hi

My 2006 Bailey Ranger 550/6 has a MIRO of 1058kg and a MTPLM of 1298kg. Alko Octagon Blue shock absorbers are for 901-1300kg and the Red for 1301-1800kg. So do I use the Blue?

Either! Blue should be used by Red will just give more damping.
