Hi all, has anyone used the Alko retro fit stabiliser handle, for 4x4`s with rear mounted spare tyre? I am considering one as my original fit one sometimes will not clear the spare tyre when coupling to my Nissan Terrano. Thanks , Ron
Hello Ron
We have an Alko hitch and tow with a Shogun,we removed the handle from the hitch, which is in 2 parts, then we drilled holes through both parts and bolted them back together, we now use the handle to 'lock' the hitch to the towball, remove the handle and keep in car.I know it might sound tight but when I last checked the Alko handle was £25 ish.
Its double that at £51 http://www.penrosetouring.co.uk/cgi-bin/ca000001.pl
My friend just unscrews the long bolt that hold the red part on and uses the handle as per the Alko instructions for the 4 X 4 handle
I have also used one for six years but having read about how other 'vanners have simply adapted their existing handle, I wish I hadn't bothered! (They only cost about £24 back then)
