AlKo shock absorbers

Has anyone fitted these shock absorbers to their AlKo chassis caravan? Are there any problems fitting them when a mover (Powrwheel, in my case) is fitted? And, finally, are there any benefits?
I notice that, on the AlKo website, they are reduced in price this month! Always love a bargain!

Thanks, in advance, for your help and comments.

Hello Pablo,

I believe that you can fit the shocks witha mover, but i am sure oterhs on teh site will confirm or deny this.

As for the benefits, they are real, and do make a significant improvement to the way the caravan will tow, They wont cure instability, but they will certainly help to keep things feeling smoother. I also suggest that to gain the best advantage, have your caravans wheels balanced also.

Hi Pablo, on the off chance it's the red shocks your after there is a pair on eBay, brand new with a start bid of £20 no bids so far and 4 days I think it was to go, £8 postage unless your near enough to pick them up, might well be worth a punt if the right ones, and in case your wondering no it's not me selling them lol, I just thought I would see if there were any on there.

I found it easier to remove the wheels . Fitting , following the instructions ,was very straight forward. I have a Powrtouch mover which does not impede the fitting or working of the shocks.
Make sure you buy the correct ones for your caravan MTPLM.
When refitting the caravan wheels use a decent torque wrench to tighten the nuts and then recheck after about 50 miles.

Greetings,
The only problem I found was that on my model (Lexon SE 2010) the hot air from the heater exited the body exactly where the top bolt was to go on the nearside. Two hours later I got it on (by squeezing the tube with a G Clamp) to make it oval.

Only towed it once since and not far but they seemed to make a difference. Very important with such a long single axle unit.

I fitted shockabsorbers to my last van, which also had a Powrtouch mover fitted. I'd fitted the mover three years earlier and found that when I came to fit the shockabsorbers, I had to move the motors outwards an inch or so. And now, I've just fitted shockers to my present van.

I have the model 1 powrtouch & was told by them that there was not sufficient clearance on the model 1 for shocks to be fitted
this was confirmed by our local caravan dealer

I to have the Powrtouch Model 1 which I fitted about four years ago, I have just fitted Al Ko Blue shocks as they were on offer in June for £49.99 [also on the same offer this month August]. I had read that they could not be fitted because lack of space, I went to the van and checked this out, ample space. Shocker`s fitted no problem, only a little re-positioning of motor wiring

I have purchased the shock on offer, Red, from Alko and fitted them with no problems to my new Orion.
I have a new powertouch HD3 fitted which I'm told is a bit slimmer than earlier versions.
Can't vouch for any bennifits has I only towed this van twice before fitting them. Others do say their is a difference, thats why I purchased them.

Shock absorbers should be mandatory on a caravan as I am sure it will help prevent some caravan accidents. We have alwasy ahd shock absorbers fitted and where ti si really noticiable is when travelling on a motorway and youa re passed by large vehilce the rocking is reduced significantly!
