Is it possible to adjust the stabiliser, its a nightmare to apply onto the towball.

Ill end up giving myself a slipped disc.

It seems so hard to push the handle down once were on the ball, and then to release it at the other end.

Any help please !!!!

High Chris,

I have just had one fitted,(see my post about it squeaking). When i queried the thing with the dealer i also mentioned that it was unbelievably hard to engage and could that cause the squeaking/cracking noise. They said no, that's how it's supposed to be. I worked in engineering all my life and I think the load that must be on the caseing around the ball is excessive. I think my wife would have to stand on the handle to engage it. Like you, i'm not happy about it.

Hi Chris

I have one that I have used for a couple of years and although there is some resistance to engage the stabiliser its not excessive. I don't think they are adjustable as they work on resistance from the 3 pads on the tow ball when engaged. May seem a silly question, but did you have an Alko extended tow ball fitted to your tow bar as they need that little bit more space to opperate? I think swan neck and removeable tow balls are ok.

Regards

Brian

I too have the Alko 3004 and even on my swan neck tow bar it is very difficult to engage/disengage. One point I would make is that after 9 months of use (and 3,500 miles of towing) it has changed from being 'almost impossible' to merely 'very difficult' !

Bri,

Ive got the swan neck towball.

Ive spoke to Alko today and they inform me that is

normal, but I must say our old van was not as tight as this one.

regards
