Alko strange sound

HI

i have a 2004 alko hitch, and when reversing i hear a loud sound, difficult to explain , but kinda like cracking mixed with groaning lol

any ideas what this is ?

also this happens if i lift the gas peddle on the motorway and slowing down natually!!

thanks

dave

Hi Dave, if it makes the noise when your going in a straight line (I guess you are on the motorway!)it's nothing to do with the alko. My alko grains like mad round corners and this is due to the friction pads on the ball.

I think your problem is the sliding coupling behind the hitch - Your coupling is connected to a round bar that slides in and out of a tube, if the set up is not greased enough you'll get a metal on metal sound and this is what I think is happening. For a start you buy a cheap grease gun and grease this area.
