Alko Tow Ball

Propose to buy secondhand van say year 2001 onwards. Thought I should have a towbar fitted before purchasing van. Fitters however ask if the unit requires a Alko tow ball. My question is should I have it fitted anyway or should it be with the van or not necessary? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi It all depends if the van you are considering to purchase has an Alko stabiliser fitted. The tow ball will NOT come with the van. If the van has an Alko stabiliser fitted you will need an extended neck ball. Be careful though , if you do get a Alko tow ball DO NOT get any grease on the face of the ball as the stabiliser has friction pads in it & any grease will contaminate the pads. Generally the price of a tow bar includes the standard fit ball which you have paid for so make sure you get that & purchase an extended neck. Look around the web for best price.

If you buy the standard tow bar kit and you then buy a caravan with the Alko stabeliser you can buy an Alko Tow Ball for
