Hello, new member here πŸ‘‹πŸ»
Is it best to change the liners when changing the friction pads on a 3004 model?
The manual says that the AKS is maintenance free apart from the friction pads πŸ€”
Any advice appreciated

When you say 'liners ' , do you mean the front and rear hitch linings? if so , then no, they are only changed if there is free play when pushing the tow ball backward and forwards with the lock engaged and side friction pads just touching the ball . This is best tested with a spare tow ball ( detachable type) . the side friction pads wear a lot faster and will need shims adding or replacement many times over the life of the caravan as they are clamped against the ball and actively restrict its movement in all axes creating lots of friction . The front and rear linings should be cleaned ( 80 grit emery paper followed by brake cleaner) and inspected for damage, cracking - missing bits, and if found then replaced.
